The NFL is expanding its nutrition program to include a nutrition class called Biology Book, which is designed to help players get into their best shape.
The program is a part of the NFL’s Nutrition Center, which offers more than 30 nutritional-focused classes across the league, including weight-loss classes and nutrition-related sports.
The Biology Book class is offered by a different company, which has been providing nutrition education for the NFL since 2011.
The company’s president, Bill Walsh, told The Associated Press in a statement that the program is the first of its kind in the league.
“The Science Department is expanding our nutrition curriculum in order to bring more athletes to the sport of football, and to enhance their health,” Walsh said.
“We are thrilled to have the Biology Book as a part that curriculum, and are excited to help more athletes get to that state.”
The NFL also expanded its nutrition offerings to include weight training and aerobic training.
The NFL’s program will focus on adding more aerobic exercises to the curriculum, which include high-intensity interval training, weight lifting and sprinting, the NFL said.
The workouts will include aerobic training, power movements and resistance training.
“We want to provide the best nutrition and health information possible for our players to enhance the physical and mental well-being of our players, and this is a great opportunity to do that,” Walsh added.
“This is a program that our players are passionate about, and that’s the way we’re going to approach it,” Walsh continued.
“They want to get in shape.
They want to stay in shape.”
Players can sign up for the program on the NFL website.
